It's Christmas!

Captain X had so much fun hanging out with his cousins Megan, Maddie and Alex. They went on the merry-go-round, walked around to see the Christmas displays, and checked out all the cool carnival rides! Christmas time is almost here and Captain X sure couldn't wait!

Official Report: It's True, Everything Elmo

Well, folks... it's been going on for a while, but we wanted to report officially that Captain X has entered the Elmo phase. Last year, he couldn't care less about this Elmo dude... this year? He loves all things Elmo! So, we have amassed a tremendous amount of Elmo stuff...let's see.. we have an Elmo chair (that sings and laughs that you, well Captain X anyways can only fit the chair, can spin around in it), Elmo slippers, tons of Elmo DVDs, Tickle Me Elmo Extreme (yes, extreme), Elmo tool belts, and the list goes on and on... this little red fur ball is all the rage here in Captain X central! We hope you enjoy the images!

Giving Thanks

Captain X has much to be thankful for....from wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and especially grandparents (far and near) to a very caring nanny which his parents are very grateful for. This Thanksgiving, Captain was very fortunate to have both his Lola (Daddy's mommy) as well as Ba Di 6 (Mommy's auntie) at Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner, they couldn't wait to have their pictures taken with Captain X.

The day after Thanksgiving, Captain X (with both parents) we to get a Christmas Tree at a Christmas Tree farm,. Granted, we were a bit lost for about 15 minutes... We made it to the farm and pick-up our noble fir tree. YAY! This was Captain X's first Christmas Tree! He was fascinated with the little twinkling lights and all the cool ornaments that could be hung on the tree. Captain X was so excited, be picked up a glass ornament (One of precious ornaments from her collection). It's okay, he's learned a great deal from that little experiment... glass ornaments don't bounch.

Captain X's New Ride?

Not likely for some time! Captain X went with Daddy and Auntie Tiffany to the annual motorcycle show. It was loads of fun, including the chance to sit on this little sportbike number. Shhh....don't tell Grandma, she would freak out!

Look closely, Captain X's feet wasn't even long enough to touch the pedals, but resting it on the motor is sufficient enough. Vroom, Vroom!!!!

Who's Up For Playstation?

Who's up for some Playstation? This is just too cute and had to be shared. Captain X saw his daddy playing on the Playstation and just had to have his own control. Hehee hehee... he thought that his control actually was making something move! I guess it was only in due time when his gamer side would come out... but, then what do you expect as an offspring from a couple of RPG gamers as parents?

Future Musician in the Making?

Captain X has been doing a lot of dancing and singing, and now he's become interested in musical instrument. So, when we were visiting cousin Megan and Maddie before the trick-or-treating in the park and what did Captain X spot? A piano! Mega's piano! So, he had to touch the keys, bang out a couple of tunes (no, we're just kidding. He just loved to tickle the keys a bit)... Could this be a future musician in the making? Only time will tell!

Meanwhile, we'll be looking into some sort of a music and movement class or tumbling class for Captain X now that we're taking a break from swim class for the winter season.

A Disguise Within a Disguise (and Post-Halloween Wrap-up!)

What was Captain X dressed up for Halloween? A ninja, in stealth mode! Well, he wouldn't wear his neato armor piece that was part of his costume, but he was a ninja nonetheless! We just called his costume as an underdressed ninja. Captain X had tons of fun with his cousins the weekend before Halloween and went trick-or-treating at cousin Maddie and Megan's neighborhood park! But, he didn't want to carry his Elmo candy bucket, so his cousin Jenna carried it for him instead. Jenna was a lion (roar!), Maddie was a ladybug, Megan was a pirate (arrgh!), Alex was such a cute witch, and Blake was a Storm Trooper. Everyone had lots of fun and then after the trick-or-treating all the cousins went to play in the playground. Weeeee, fun for all!

Then, the very next day Mommy and Daddy took Captain X to the same big pumpkin patch that they took him to last year (but, he was too young to remember). This year, Di Sau (Mommy's aunt) join us, too! There was so much to do...we went on a train ride, the checked out all the pumpkins, and there was a carousel ride - first with Mommy and then with Daddy. Last year, he didn't know what to make of the giant pumpkins (they were bigger and taller than him, but this year Captain X wanted to lift one of the big pumpkins with his bare hands!

Earth Shattering!

We experienced a major earthquake here last night, folks. It was a 5.6 magnitude, but we are all fine! Captain X thought it was great fun and wanted more (he settled for jumping on the rocking chair and agressively rocking back & forth, though). His mom was freaked out a bit and was still shaking a good while afterwards. Nothing was broken, but things did move and fall from the usual spots: tables and shelves. This tremor has given us a good kick-in-the-pants motivation to update our earthquake preparedness bag and get one ready for Captain X. Every superhero must be ready!

Captain X...swims!

We've been going to swim class since Captain X was 6 months-old...and finally, finally he is starting to get the hang of kicking..and making a really BIG splash! Today, was another class and he was really, really doing well! He didn't even want to get out of the pool today!

We're so proud! This picture was taken about a month or so ago during photo week at Water Babies Swim. Look at his expression!

Enjoy!

Captain X Knows...

...his letters! Yes! Mommy and daddy thought that it was never too early to start teaching Captain X his alphabets. Besides, they sing the alphabet song all the time, why not make the connection, right? So for the past couple of weeks, Captain X has been learning his A, B, C's.. So far, he knows the following letters:

His mommy and daddy are mightly proud that he's taken to recognizing the letters so fast! We can't make actual words from these random letters, but it's a start. Though, Captain X's G'ma Shelly gave Mommy a great tip on how to start putting simple words together with... "G"-"O"... "Go!" Hey that's a start!

Stay tuned for more stories of Captain X's adventures!

Attack of the Nasty Cold

Missed your weekly Captain X fix? Sorry folks, he's been a little under the weather lately. The culprit? The common cold, no less!

Yes, even superheroes can sometimes fall prey to the most common of illness. But have no fear, he's already begun to bounce back into action... but not before he transferred this common cold to both his mommy and daddy! Oh, what lucky parents they are...

More stories to share as soon as Mommy gets her strength back and return to the land of the living!

Secret Weapon Caught on Film!

While peeking out from his room's window and waiting for his daddy to come home from work, Captain X unleashed his most powerful and secret weapon yet...what is it? His infectious laugh. Be careful, you'll end up rolling on the ground laughing along with Captain X! He's been known to use this weapon when he knows he's in trouble or trying to turn a stern, "NO!" into a gleeful "YES."

Oh, and check out the new chompers he's got the past few weeks! They are really coming in!

Until the next "X-venture"!

It's a winner!

Remember the first birthday bash invitation that this blog design is inspired by? Well, mom just got notification in the mail this week that it won a design award. Woooohooo! There were 10,000+ entries from across the country and this was one of the designs that was selected as a winner. Woooohooo!

Now back to another episode of Captain X's daily adventure.

A Fine Mess

Curiosity, what is the saying? That it killed the cat? Well, for Captain X, curiosity got him into a fine mess... one that his mom had to clean up. Somehow when his mom was checking on dinner in the kitchen, he managed to find a small jar of Vaseline and smothered the contents all over his face, clothes, hands, and feet (thank goodness he didn't make it to the hair just yet!)...and oh, yes... the rug in his room. Needless to say his feet, hands and face was very nicely moisterized and soft once the excess was wiped off...and there is sure to be some that made it into his mouth as well. Yummm, petroleum jelly.... not the world's tastiest snack! I guess it's the slime and texture.

Sorry folks, no pictures to include. Mom was busy freaking out and trying to wipe up the goop. But, you can imagine the smirk on Captain X's face when he was caught.

That's our little troublemaker... If he's not making noise, he's making trouble.

This just in: Captain X, Revealed!

Welcome to the Chronicles of Captain X, otherwise known lovingly as our "little guy." Quite an active toddler, this blog was set up for friends and family (far and near) to follow X's milestones and adventures.

For those of you wondering, how did we come up with the Captain X idea for the blog - it's actually an extension of his first birthday party theme! He's our own superhero! You see, this is what happens when your parents are artsy-fartsy types - mom designs custom event stationery and dad is an excellent illustrator! We can't take all the credits for the invitation though! We had wordsmithing help from mom's friend, Amanda!

What's Captain X's superpowers? Speed (for a toddler with little legs, he sure outrun his mom sometimes!) and super-infectious smile & laughter (no, really we're not kidding!) -- these are his main superpowers. So, beware! At 20 months-old (currently), he's laid down his former weapon of choice (the "Binky"). We're not sure what will replace it or if it will be replace. Though, we can say that his chompers (at last count more than 10 of them!) are his latest weapons. So, beware again and never, ever put your fingers in his mouth unless you are prepared to be feeling some pain!

Until our next "X-venture"... Enjoy the blog!

C & A (Parents of Captain X -- and no, we do not have superpowers)
